“He that believeth in me, the works that I do shall he do also;
and greater works than these shall he do.”

Reiki an ancient art of natural energy healing

By Pamela Nine

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is made up of two distinct Japanese words – Rei, for “Universal Consciousness” or “Divine Source” and Ki, for “Life Force Energy.” It is more commonly referred to as “Universal Life Energy.” Reiki is an ancient Japanese art of natural energy healing. In Japan, the traditional form of Reiki is known as “Usui Shiki Ryoho,” and here in the western world it is referred to as the “Usui System of Natural Healing.” This advanced form of natural energy healing was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the mid nineteenth century. Today, Reiki is used and practiced by millions of people around the world who have also discovered it’s profound and positive effects.

The system of Reiki provides benefits to all levels of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body, and supports all conventional and alternative methods of healthcare. Reiki has been proven to be effective in restoring balance, relaxation, and vitality, and as an aid in relieving and releasing negative emotions, stress, anxiety and tension. Other advantages of using Reiki include its ability to relieve side effects, accelerate the process of recovery, and to boost the immune system.

Reiki is of the simple belief system that we are all one, and that healing for the highest good occurs through Divine spiritual intervention and unconditional love. Reiki treats the whole person with natural and spiritually guided, gentle, and nurturing energies. It utilizes the age-old concept that an unseen “life force energy ” is flowing through our bodies, giving and sustaining our lives. And if our “life force energy” is low or unbalanced, we are more likely to feel stress or experience sickness, and if it remains high and balanced, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Primarily, Reiki is a hands-on system in that subtle healing energy is transferred to the physical level of the body through hand placements, either on, or slightly above the body. The mental level of the body receives healing energy through concentrated thoughts. The emotional and spiritual levels of the body receive healing energy through feelings of unconditional love. A Reiki treatment feels like a wonderful radiant glow that permeates and flows through and around the body promoting feelings of peace, security and well being. Many who have experienced Reiki treatments have reported miraculous results.

The natural healing art and practice of Reiki are not dependent on one’s intellectual capacity, nor based on any belief system, religious affiliation, or level of spiritual development. Reiki is used by people all over the world who benefit from its effective, natural, and safe method of healing and self-improvement.

Reiki is also an amazingly simple technique to learn. It is not taught through the conventional meaning of the word; the use and techniques are taught, while the actual energy of Reiki is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. A Reiki Master passes on the energy and natural healing ability through an intricate and spiritual “attunement” process. The attunement process enables the student to access an unlimited supply of “life force energy” for the experience of spiritual growth, to enhance the quality of life, and to improve the overall health of the body, mind and spirit. The natural healing energy of Reiki is simply available to everyone, and has been successfully learned and is used by thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds worldwide.
